QuadPod - the story continues

May 16th & 17th 2011

Snelflight support analyzed my problems and found a good reason why I had so much troubles.
I did not read the fine manual well enough and had the motors connected wrong. I had the motors connected clockwise 1 2 3 4 instead of 1 3 2 4.
Instead of going on the same way I did with the Mikrokopters, I should have read more carefully.
Phil, thank you for pointing this out.

Yesterday I received the replacement motors from Snelflight.
During my lunch break I replaced the broken motor but I was unable to get the multirotor in the air.

In the evening I gave it another try and eventually I had a successful flight.
As it was getting dark I added the LED strips.

foot blue and red ready enough? one broken testing... ...testing... strange motor 225g and ready 174g no battery LEDs left broken motors

The radio was set up to use the delta mixer for a + configuration. This worked fine from the beginning, but now I'm lost where to put the sticks for the Quadpod initialization...

I had a successful maiden flight in the living room.
Space was a bit tight, so I went outside and flew a bit in the garden.

Later I went up in the big room in the attic and was flying there. The Quadpod was behaving ok, although I had to get used to the controls
The Quadpod is behaving sluggish compared to the Mikrokopters, probably that can be corrected.

After a few flights in the attic, one of the motors refused to start. I was back to square one...

On the 17th I replaced the motor (pictures above) and the Quadpod is flying again. Out of the 4 motors I received with the kit, only one is left on the Quadpod. I must have received a bad batch of motors.

The Quadpod works again and I can finally start my practise flights in the garden and the attic
Quadpod ready to take off in the attic
The wind caused by the Quadpod makes it hard to fly near the roof - no problem, it's good for practise if it's not too easy.
