Convert a Hi8 videocam into a zoomable webcam

The image quality RemoteCam was getting worse and worse. That was the reason I got a new (used) camera to replace it

First I wanted to use the existing remote control to operate the zoom to avoid fiddling with the cameras electronics.
The zoom with the remote controls is very slow (20seconds for a full zoom), so after a few tests I changed my mind and opened the camera.

The result is nice - much better image quality, more and faster zoom than with the old camera.
