Hi
sorry to bother you again - I know I wrote just recently, but I am not too
busy with work right now and I have something for you to laugh :-)
Normally you will receive mail from me only every 2-4 weeks.
the Poll
http://www.webtruck.org/poll/
revealed, that for 75% of the members bandwidth is not a concern.
That encouraged me to add more videos to the site, and here is a
FUN VIDEO
earlier this week I received a letter saying I have to go for military
service again this summer. I will serve my last 20 days. In all I have
been in uniform for more than a year, and I have some good and some
bad memories...
Some of you might remember that in 1999 I was in charge of a internet
cafe in a camp for challenged people.
I have always been taking pictures and videos. I went through
some of the videos, and I would like to share the following with you:
http://www.webtruck.org/histoy/1999/wheelchair_html
this was towards the end of the service in 1999, when we had to pack our
stuff. While some were working hard to get the work done, others just
played around and had fun...
Audio is included this time, the language spoken is swiss german.
Some say "don't break, let it go" where as others add "this can be
dangerous" - I guess you dont need translation for the laughter :-)
VIDEO HARDWARE
as you might remember, last november the Sony Video8 camera I used for
RemoteCam broke down after 4 years of uninterrupted service.
Luckily I could replace it useing SideCam. Since then I was trying to
get another video cam to have a replacement at hand or setup another one.
Sony and other manufacturers refuse to hand out defective cameras as they
fear they will sell less of the new ones...
So if you have a old video camera where the tape drive does not work anymore
or you dont need anymore for some other reason, please contact me.
Video cameras combined with a capture card deliver much better pictures than
the ordinary webcams, and professional grade tilt/pan/zoom cams are just too
expensive for my no budget website.
MEMBERPIC
some members have submitted pictures to
http://www.webtruck.org/memberpic/
I would like to take the opportunity to thank them, and invite you to do the
same. I have changed the interface a bit, so you can update picture and
title anytime. (there are 360 members, less than 10 have uploaded a pic)
Getting pictures in the computer has become a easy task in the days of
digital cameras, but they are too big for a web page.
To resize, rotate, convert and clip pictures I use IrfanView
http://www.irfanview.com
It is free and available in many languages.

PS: I know that english can be a challenge for some of you, as it is for me
sometimes. As I don't have translators at hand I write this in english
and hope most of you understand what I write. Even if you dont
understand every word, you can still click on the links :-)
