I was thinking about them as well, but helicopters are much more difficult to control and require more power to lift the same load.
They are also not easy to build without a kit with most parts included, and once something is bent just a bit, they vibrate like hell -> not a very good platform to take aerial pictures.

Have you had a look on ebay, there are some quite resonable helli's there , I'd would suggest looking into a long range lightwieght wireless camera that could send an image or video to a laptop PC
just a suggestion.

I am tempted to get a Draganflyer.
Their cheapest model is quite expensive, and it does not carry (much) load.
The bigger models are even more expensive, but might cover my requirements.
The shipment to Switzerland is also quite expensive.
All these price tags are keeping me from 'just trying it'...
