This was back in June 29th. Today we had a meeting to discuss how to bring this cam back into operation. I was requested to comply with the swiss privacy policy requlations.Federal Regulations for WebCams (in german, also available in french and italian. Here's the google translation)In short: either the camera must not show persons in a recognizable clarity (no zoom, no panning to where people are), or there must be some privacy filter (eg pixelate people) to prevent recognition of persons. Was it possible to recognize people? Does anybody know software to pixelate people in jpeg images using linux? The motion jpeg stream came right off the camera. To support any kind of privacy filter, this would have to change to add the filter -> required CPU power, might limit number of people visiting the camera.Seeing this requirements, I am not sure if I'll not only invest money to improve the wiring but also manpower and money to decrease the quality of the images...What do you think?

New Server

Hi allAfter > 5 years on an Asus Pundit, Webtruck.org has moved to today to a Acer Aspire.More about this move hereI tried to keep everything working as yesterday and the days before. When I reached the truck room, the computer was off and there was no way to power it back on, probably a power supply failure. This computer has been controlling the truck for about 7 years, it was on 24/7 all the time.As the relais card for the cam control broke down a while ago, it was not too hard to find a parallel port to do the job.The old computer was running on Windows 98 - that's why I had to reboot it about once per week to make sure the timing for the bucket does not get too sluggish. As the software to control the moves is written in Perl, I moved the whole stuff over to the better Windows - the linux server which runs the Webtruck.org CMS system. With this new server, the controls work better. Reversing is smoother now, so it is much easier to pick up blocks.[Reversing is done by a a burst of 10 milisecond pulses as the switches used don't know a 'half on' position ]Of course I have still plans to upgrade all the controls to more up to date hardware and reestablish the camera control - plans are patient...

RemoteCam control problems

The parallel port interface controlling the RemoteCam moves broke down.Until I have time to fix / replace this, camera controls will not be available. As the system depends on both parallel port interfaces working together controlled by one computer, this cannot be fixed easily. This might remain this way until I have time to move everything over to the K8055 controls I have planned a long time. That requires time, parts, soldering, software writing and testing...

Forum updated to latest version

starting from today, Personal Messages are forwarded to the Members email account. This is a convenient way for Members to address other Members.

Forum opened

Hi allI was updating the forum on LogiSphere.seiz.ch, and as I liked the new version so much, I also implemented it here. For the moment this is quite empty - now it's your turn WebTruck
